Filament, power, your time $4.06Marketplace fees $1.16Left from this sale $2.28

Why it can work

  • Discontinued parts leave owners stuck
  • Tiny parts print fast and ship cheaply
  • Searchable part numbers bring buyers directly

Why it might fail

  • Each part needs an original to measure
  • Heat and sun rule out PLA

Be aware before you sell

Own-measured parts are safest, and shared files still need a licence check. Functional replacement parts are usually low risk, but avoid maker logos and check for live design patents. Etsy asks for your own original design, so a licensed file may not qualify.

How to get a file you may sell

  1. Make your own. Tinkercad is free and enough for simple shapes.
  2. Buy a commercial licence. Many designers on Cults3D, MyMiniFactory and Etsy sell one. Read what it allows.
  3. Use open licences. CC0 and CC BY allow selling prints. NC does not. Filter by licence on Printables or MakerWorld and keep a screenshot.

Our take

Owners of older RVs have real, documented part shortages and no cheap alternative, so a small part can sell on need rather than looks. It works as a catalogue built from measured originals in heat-tolerant material, and fails if parts crack in sun or under load.

How the score adds up

Low competition20/20
Low legal risk15/15

The score is our estimate from public prices and signals, not sales data. Evidence confidence: medium.

Competition

Most activity is hobbyists sharing files and forum posts, so organised sellers of printed RV parts look scarce, though this was not fully confirmed.

We have not confirmed any yet.
