A typical product here: Custom shaped logo keychain

Where each sale goes

At $3.00 you lose $1.94 on every sale. Costs $3.75, fees $0.69.

Why it can work

  • Low brand or licence risk if the design is your own
  • Seasonal demand: Before trade show seasons, spring and autumn, my estimate

Why it might fail

  • Crowded market, so prices can fall fast
  • Under $2 estimated profit per print hour

Be aware before you sell

Keychain customizer files are often personal use, so make your own template for commercial runs. Only print logos you have permission to use, ideally confirmed in writing by the client. Etsy asks for your own original design, so a licensed file may not qualify.

How to get a file you may sell

  1. Make your own. Tinkercad is free and enough for simple shapes.
  2. Buy a commercial licence. Many designers on Cults3D, MyMiniFactory and Etsy sell one. Read what it allows.
  3. Use open licences. CC0 and CC BY allow selling prints. NC does not. Filter by licence on Printables or MakerWorld and keep a screenshot.

Our take

Moulded keychains win above 1,000 units, so printing only competes on runs under about 100 where a mould's setup fee hurts (one listing shows $738.74). All prices here are moulded benchmarks, not printed quotes.
