Why it can work

  • Low material use
  • Anglers replace lost lures
  • Custom colours and species are possible

Why it might fail

  • Action needs real water testing
  • Pike teeth can gouge printed bodies
  • Hooks and paint add labour

Be aware before you sell

Check each lure file, and on Etsy use your own design. Copying a named lure's shape or brand risks a claim, so original profiles are safer. Etsy asks for your own original design, so a licensed file may not qualify.

How to get a file you may sell

  1. Make your own. Tinkercad is free and enough for simple shapes.
  2. Buy a commercial licence. Many designers on Cults3D, MyMiniFactory and Etsy sell one. Read what it allows.
  3. Use open licences. CC0 and CC BY allow selling prints. NC does not. Filter by licence on Printables or MakerWorld and keep a screenshot.

Our take

Lures are small and anglers buy many, but each design must be tuned and tested in water before it can sell. It works for original swimbaits with proven action, and fails as untested bodies against established brands.

Competition

Established tackle brands fill retail, and many hobbyists print their own, though direct printed-lure sellers could not be confirmed.

We have not confirmed any yet.
