Filament, power, your time $14.14Marketplace fees $5.44Left from this sale $32.92

At the mid price, if it sells. Shipping not included.

Why it can work

  • Strong public demand signals
  • Seasonal demand: Christmas gift season (my judgement, not measured)

Why it might fail

  • Crowded market, so prices can fall fast
  • Under $2 estimated profit per print hour
  • Generic castles and dragons carry little brand risk, but the eye-catching towers are usually a designer's copyrighted sculpt, and Fates End states its work is not for resale, even as prints, without merchant status

Be aware before you sell

Use your own design or a named merchant licence, keep proof of it, and check that Etsy's reported original-design rule still lets you list a licensed print there. Generic castles and dragons carry little brand risk, but the eye-catching towers are usually a designer's copyrighted sculpt, and Fates End states its work is not for resale, even as prints, without merchant status. Etsy asks for your own original design, so a licensed file may not qualify.

How to get a file you may sell

  1. Make your own. Tinkercad is free and enough for simple shapes.
  2. Buy a commercial licence. Many designers on Cults3D, MyMiniFactory and Etsy sell one. Read what it allows.
  3. Use open licences. CC0 and CC BY allow selling prints. NC does not. Filter by licence on Printables or MakerWorld and keep a screenshot.

Our take

This is an FDM-friendly gift item with a wide price band, and cart signals suggest real buying, though no sales figures were confirmed. It works with an original design or a paid merchant licence, and fails as one more generic castle or an unlicensed copy of a popular sculpt.

How the score adds up

The score is our estimate from public prices and signals, not sales data. Evidence confidence: medium.

Competition

Public signals suggest high competition.

Make it your own
  • Design for one game format, not one franchise
  • Use your own creature or theme, never a brand name
  • Sell it finished and painted at a higher price
