Why it can work

  • Low brand or licence risk if the design is your own
  • Seasonal demand: Halloween, renaissance fairs and convention season (my judgement, not measured)

Why it might fail

  • No major warning found, test small first

Be aware before you sell

Thangs pages say the Shadowfall models are restricted by licensing terms, so read them or design your own. Generic ram or dragon horns are safe, but horns named or shaped after a character, such as Karlach from Baldur's Gate 3, are not, and copying a designer's model is also infringement. Etsy asks for your own original design, so a licensed file may not qualify.

How to get a file you may sell

  1. Make your own. Tinkercad is free and enough for simple shapes.
  2. Buy a commercial licence. Many designers on Cults3D, MyMiniFactory and Etsy sell one. Read what it allows.
  3. Use open licences. CC0 and CC BY allow selling prints. NC does not. Filter by licence on Printables or MakerWorld and keep a screenshot.

Our take

Horns use little filament for their price and carry the lowest IP risk of the wearable cosplay items. It works with comfortable mounts and your own shapes, and fails if they crack on the head or lean on character names.

  • Design for one game format, not one franchise
