Where each $84.00 sale goes

Filament, power, your time $21.69Marketplace fees $8.52Left from this sale $54.78

One sale ties up the printer for about 38 hours. $54.78 ÷ 38 h = $1.46 per print hour.

At the mid price, if it sells. Shipping not included.

Why it can work

  • Ticket price up to about $150, with one custom kit at $318
  • Builders without an ABS printer must buy these
  • Custom colours justify a premium

Why it might fail

  • Non-profit PIF anchors the price low
  • Long print time per kit
  • ABS needs an enclosed printer and fume control

Be aware before you sell

Voron's sourcing page does not state licence terms, so read the project's licence before charging for parts. Voron is a community project name, so do not imply endorsement; PIF provider status is vetted and not automatic. Etsy asks for your own original design, so a licensed file may not qualify.

How to get a file you may sell

  1. Make your own. Tinkercad is free and enough for simple shapes.
  2. Buy a commercial licence. Many designers on Cults3D, MyMiniFactory and Etsy sell one. Read what it allows.
  3. Use open licences. CC0 and CC BY allow selling prints. NC does not. Filter by licence on Printables or MakerWorld and keep a screenshot.

Our take

A kit brings a high ticket, but a V2.4 set needs about 1.8 kg of ABS and an enclosed printer, and the community's PIF route is non-profit and sets a low price anchor. It works for custom colours above PIF pricing, and it fails on the hours per kit when quality must be flawless.

Competition

Big reprap retailers and vetted PIF providers already supply this, so a newcomer competes with trusted names.
