A typical product here: Queen cage clip
Where each sale goes
At $6.50 you lose $0.29 on every sale. Costs $3.91, fees $0.88.
Why it can work
- Clubs and supply shops are easy to reach
- Printed parts can match exact hive sizes
- Few printed sellers exist
Why it might fail
- Traditional parts cost only about $2
- Printed plastic outdoors must survive UV
- Sales fall outside spring
Be aware before you sell
Free entrance guard files exist on MakerWorld, so confirm licences before selling. No obvious IP issue, but do not copy a patented or branded queen-rearing system. Etsy asks for your own original design, so a licensed file may not qualify.
How to get a file you may sell
- Make your own. Tinkercad is free and enough for simple shapes.
- Buy a commercial licence. Many designers on Cults3D, MyMiniFactory and Etsy sell one. Read what it allows.
- Use open licences. CC0 and CC BY allow selling prints. NC does not. Filter by licence on Printables or MakerWorld and keep a screenshot.

Our take
Beekeepers buy small tools, and a $15 PETG adapter shows the price they accept, but many cheap parts sit at about $2. It works selling through bee clubs with tested spacing and no toxic coatings near the hive, and it fails if bees chew or propolise parts into uselessness.
How the score adds up
The score is our estimate from public prices and signals, not sales data. Evidence confidence: low.
Competition
Traditional bee supply shops sell cheap parts, while printed sellers looked rare and few.
