Why it can work
- Few sellers compared with other products
- Low brand or licence risk if the design is your own
Why it might fail
- Thin public evidence, so treat these numbers with care
- No reliable public price found
Be aware before you sell
OpenLOCK is CC BY-NC 4.0 with a free commercial licence on request, plus a compatible logo and link back to Printable Scenery, while Dragonlock terms were not found and should not be assumed to match. OpenLOCK is an open system, so risk sits in copying a designer's tile art rather than in any franchise. Etsy asks for your own original design, so a licensed file may not qualify.
How to get a file you may sell
- Make your own. Tinkercad is free and enough for simple shapes.
- Buy a commercial licence. Many designers on Cults3D, MyMiniFactory and Etsy sell one. Read what it allows.
- Use open licences. CC0 and CC BY allow selling prints. NC does not. Filter by licence on Printables or MakerWorld and keep a screenshot.

Our take
The licensing path is unusually clear, but I found no retail price and little sign of buyers, so demand is my weakest read here. It works only if a test listing shows people pay for bulk tile sets, and fails if the audience prints its own.
Competition
Public signals suggest low competition.
We have not confirmed any yet.
Make it your own
- Design for one game format, not one franchise
- Use your own creature or theme, never a brand name
- Sell it finished and painted at a higher price
Where to find 3D files
Use these for research. Check each licence and never assume you may sell a print. Search links show live results.
