Why it can work

  • Few sellers compared with other products

Why it might fail

  • Tokens that copy official pieces or characters can infringe, and Leder Games excludes figures, miniatures and items resembling official products from what it allows
  • Thin public evidence, so treat these numbers with care
  • No reliable public price found

Be aware before you sell

Follow each publisher's fan policy, keep designs clearly different from official components, and mark them unofficial. Tokens that copy official pieces or characters can infringe, and Leder Games excludes figures, miniatures and items resembling official products from what it allows. Etsy asks for your own original design, so a licensed file may not qualify.

How to get a file you may sell

  1. Make your own. Tinkercad is free and enough for simple shapes.
  2. Buy a commercial licence. Many designers on Cults3D, MyMiniFactory and Etsy sell one. Read what it allows.
  3. Use open licences. CC0 and CC BY allow selling prints. NC does not. Filter by licence on Printables or MakerWorld and keep a screenshot.

Our take

I found no retail prices, so this is an idea to test, not a measured market. It works for games with active fan communities and a publisher policy that allows it, and fails on games whose publishers object.

Competition

Public signals suggest low competition.

Make it your own
  • Design for one game format, not one franchise
  • Use your own creature or theme, never a brand name
  • Sell it finished and painted at a higher price

Use these for research. Check each licence and never assume you may sell a print. Search links show live results.
