Specific products to sell
Pick one of these, not the whole niche. Numbers are our estimates for one item.
A typical product here: Bobbin storage tray
Where each $14.00 sale goes
One sale ties up the printer for about 1.6 hours. $7.59 ÷ 1.6 h = $4.74 per print hour.
At the mid price, if it sells. Shipping not included.
Why it can work
- Collectors keep old machines running for decades
- Some slide plates sell for over $30 in metal
- Almost nobody sells printed versions yet
Why it might fail
- Plastic wears fast next to moving metal
- Fit errors of a fraction of a millimetre stop a machine
- Metal parts are still available for popular models
Be aware before you sell
Printable slide plate files exist, but their licences were not checked, so confirm before selling prints. Singer is a trademark, so use 'fits Singer 28' wording and do not copy badges or decals. Etsy asks for your own original design, so a licensed file may not qualify.
How to get a file you may sell
- Make your own. Tinkercad is free and enough for simple shapes.
- Buy a commercial licence. Many designers on Cults3D, MyMiniFactory and Etsy sell one. Read what it allows.
- Use open licences. CC0 and CC BY allow selling prints. NC does not. Filter by licence on Printables or MakerWorld and keep a screenshot.

Our take
The price range comes from conventional metal parts, because no shop selling printed versions with prices turned up. It works for accessories and cams that take little wear, and it fails on anything near the hook, feed or needle where metal is needed.
How the score adds up
The score is our estimate from public prices and signals, not sales data. Evidence confidence: low.
Competition
Specialist metal parts shops are established, but no printed-part seller with listed prices appeared in search.
We have not confirmed any yet.
Make it your own
- Solve one specific problem better than generic listings
- Test one original design before making more
- Show a real photo and honest measurements

Demand signals
- ISMACS, a collector society, has an article on making parts because old machines often arrive with parts missing. source
- Hackaday covered printed cams, a needle adapter and buttonhole templates for old machines. source
- Dedicated shops sell conventional parts model by model, which shows steady buyers. source
