Where each $46.04 sale goes
One sale ties up the printer for about 4.5 hours. $34.41 ÷ 4.5 h = $7.65 per print hour.
At the mid price, if it sells. Shipping not included.
Why it can work
- Old boats have obsolete fittings
- ASA has held up on deck in one owner's report
- Non-load caps and covers are low risk
Why it might fail
- Failure under load can injure crew
- UV and salt degrade printed parts
- Commercial blocks are rated and cost from about $17
Be aware before you sell
Cleat files on Printables and MyMiniFactory exist, but check licences and never imply a load rating you have not tested. Rated high for safety liability, not IP: a failed block or cleat under load can injure crew or lose a boat. Etsy asks for your own original design, so a licensed file may not qualify.
How to get a file you may sell
- Make your own. Tinkercad is free and enough for simple shapes.
- Buy a commercial licence. Many designers on Cults3D, MyMiniFactory and Etsy sell one. Read what it allows.
- Use open licences. CC0 and CC BY allow selling prints. NC does not. Filter by licence on Printables or MakerWorld and keep a screenshot.

Our take
Safety-critical under load: a Harken 16 mm block is rated at about 250 lb working load, and layer lines are the weak point of any print. Skip anything that carries a line or a person's weight, and only low-load trim such as caps and covers in ASA could work.
How the score adds up
The score is our estimate from public prices and signals, not sales data. Evidence confidence: medium.
Competition
Harken and Ronstan dominate rated hardware, and printed versions are mostly owner DIY rather than a real market.
