Why it can work

  • Fast-growing hobby with influential YouTubers
  • Exact-fit mounts for specific devices are scarce
  • Buyers already spend hundreds on a rack

Why it might fail

  • Many buyers own printers
  • Metal shelves cost about $19
  • Heat from servers rules out PLA

Be aware before you sell

Mod10's licence is personal and non-commercial printing only, so a seller needs permission or an original design. Device brand names such as Raspberry Pi should appear only as compatibility wording. Etsy asks for your own original design, so a licensed file may not qualify.

How to get a file you may sell

  1. Make your own. Tinkercad is free and enough for simple shapes.
  2. Buy a commercial licence. Many designers on Cults3D, MyMiniFactory and Etsy sell one. Read what it allows.
  3. Use open licences. CC0 and CC BY allow selling prints. NC does not. Filter by licence on Printables or MakerWorld and keep a screenshot.

Our take

Interest is strong, but the price range shown is for metal shelves because no finished printed part with a price was found. It works with exact mounts for specific mini PCs and devices that metal shelves do not fit, and it fails if buyers with printers just use the free files.

How the score adds up
Profit per print hour5/30
Demand25/25
Low competition12/20
Low legal risk15/15
Evidence quality2/10

The score is our estimate from public prices and signals, not sales data. Evidence confidence: low.

Competition

GeeekPi and DeskPi metal shelves plus free or $6 files already cover the basics, so paid finished prints must find exact-fit gaps.
