Specific products to sell

A typical product here: Gridfinity bit holder bin
Where each $19.75 sale goes
One sale ties up the printer for about 3.03 hours. $0.88 ÷ 3.03 h = $0.29 per print hour.
At the mid price, if it sells. Shipping not included.
Why it can work
- Strong public demand signals
- Low brand or licence risk if the design is your own
Why it might fail
- Crowded market, so prices can fall fast
- Under $2 estimated profit per print hour
Be aware before you sell
The base designs are stated as MIT, but community add-ons vary, and at least one MakerWorld file bars selling printed versions, so check each file. The core system is open, but sellers state they are not affiliated with Zack Freedman or Voidstar Lab, and one reproduces the MIT notice naming them. Etsy asks for your own original design, so a licensed file may not qualify.
How to get a file you may sell
- Make your own. Tinkercad is free and enough for simple shapes.
- Buy a commercial licence. Many designers on Cults3D, MyMiniFactory and Etsy sell one. Read what it allows.
- Use open licences. CC0 and CC BY allow selling prints. NC does not. Filter by licence on Printables or MakerWorld and keep a screenshot.

Our take
Demand is real and the licence is unusually clean, but single bins at about $1 leave almost no margin and most fans own a printer. It works as a kit sized to a named drawer or toolbox for buyers without a printer, and fails as loose bins. No finished price was seen, and the keenest Gridfinity users already own printers and print their own bins. Selling complete sets to non-printing buyers could work, but filament and print time grow quickly.
How the score adds up
The score is our estimate from public prices and signals, not sales data. Evidence confidence: medium.
Competition
Public signals suggest high competition.
Make it your own
- Solve one annoying problem for one type of pet or home
- Offer it with a name or a custom size
- Use durable materials and state care limits honestly
