Why it can work
- Huge and growing owner base
- Owners happily spend on upgrades
- Hardware kits add value a free file cannot
Why it might fail
- Buyers own printers
- Free files are everywhere
- Printer makers sell their own official kits
Be aware before you sell
At least one MakerWorld riser forbids selling printed copies, so check every file. Printer brands are trademarks, so use 'fits' wording only. Etsy asks for your own original design, so a licensed file may not qualify.
How to get a file you may sell
- Make your own. Tinkercad is free and enough for simple shapes.
- Buy a commercial licence. Many designers on Cults3D, MyMiniFactory and Etsy sell one. Read what it allows.
- Use open licences. CC0 and CC BY allow selling prints. NC does not. Filter by licence on Printables or MakerWorld and keep a screenshot.

Our take
Every buyer owns a working 3D printer and can print the free file themselves, so a finished part has almost no market. It would only work for hardware kits with non-printed parts or a tested file sale, and no finished printed price was found.
Competition
Free MakerWorld files and official Bambu kits saturate this, leaving no gap for finished prints.
