Why it can work
- Very low material cost
- Mechanical reveal is a natural print feature
Why it might fail
- Wood and velvet look more premium
- No printed seller was confirmed
Be aware before you sell
Check the file licence or design your own with a hinge or twist reveal. Generic boxes are low risk, though copied wooden designs could draw complaints. Etsy asks for your own original design, so a licensed file may not qualify.
How to get a file you may sell
- Make your own. Tinkercad is free and enough for simple shapes.
- Buy a commercial licence. Many designers on Cults3D, MyMiniFactory and Etsy sell one. Read what it allows.
- Use open licences. CC0 and CC BY allow selling prints. NC does not. Filter by licence on Printables or MakerWorld and keep a screenshot.

Our take
Small boxes carry a high perceived value at a low material cost, but the wedding market favours wood and velvet. A clever reveal mechanism such as a spiral or flower that opens could justify printing, while a plain box will not.
Competition
Wooden personalised boxes saturate gift marketplaces, while printed boxes appeared only as files.
