Where each $16.00 sale goes
One sale ties up the printer for about 5.01 hours. $7.87 ÷ 5.01 h = $1.57 per print hour.
At the mid price, if it sells. Shipping not included.
Why it can work
- Playable gift with a clear hook
- Moderate print time
- Original fantasy themes are possible
Why it might fail
- Best keywords are Nintendo property
- Tuning varies by printer
- Mouth contact needs care
Be aware before you sell
Many ocarina files are personal-use only, so a plain original design is the safe route. Zelda names and Triforce marks are Nintendo property, and takedown reports exist but are unverified. Etsy asks for your own original design, so a licensed file may not qualify.
How to get a file you may sell
- Make your own. Tinkercad is free and enough for simple shapes.
- Buy a commercial licence. Many designers on Cults3D, MyMiniFactory and Etsy sell one. Read what it allows.
- Use open licences. CC0 and CC BY allow selling prints. NC does not. Filter by licence on Printables or MakerWorld and keep a screenshot.

Our take
Playable printed ocarinas sell at modest prices, and their gift appeal is strong. The obvious demand is Zelda-themed, so a shop must win on tuned, non-branded designs or it inherits the IP risk.
How the score adds up
The score is our estimate from public prices and signals, not sales data. Evidence confidence: medium.
Competition
Several Etsy-style sellers and many free files exist, so the plain category is moderately crowded.
- 12 hole ocarina, 3D printed Goimagine not confirmed
Make it your own
- Design your own pattern or texture instead of a common file
- Sell a matching set of three in colours you choose
- Offer one custom colour or size on request
