A typical product here: Executive wedge nameplate
Where each $16.50 sale goes
One sale ties up the printer for about 4.25 hours. $12.53 ÷ 4.25 h = $2.95 per print hour.
At the mid price, if it sells. Shipping not included.
Why it can work
- Low brand or licence risk if the design is your own
- Seasonal demand: May to June graduation and teacher gifts, November to December gifting
Why it might fail
- No major warning found, test small first
Be aware before you sell
Reports say text on a bought design must be original, so design your own template and check any font's commercial licence. Low risk, but refuse customer requests for company logos or licensed characters. Etsy asks for your own original design, so a licensed file may not qualify.
How to get a file you may sell
- Make your own. Tinkercad is free and enough for simple shapes.
- Buy a commercial licence. Many designers on Cults3D, MyMiniFactory and Etsy sell one. Read what it allows.
- Use open licences. CC0 and CC BY allow selling prints. NC does not. Filter by licence on Printables or MakerWorld and keep a screenshot.

Our take
Short prints and personalisation fit made-to-order selling, and larger pieces reach about $22. It works if the listing makes text entry easy, and fails at the $3.50 tiny-plate end.
