Filament, power, your time $5.13Marketplace fees $1.50Left from this sale $4.38

Why it can work

  • Low brand or licence risk if the design is your own

Why it might fail

  • Crowded market, so prices can fall fast
  • Under $2 estimated profit per print hour

Be aware before you sell

Most files seen are paid downloads with terms not checked, so confirm commercial rights per file and check Etsy's original-design rule. Real animals carry little trademark risk, though each file stays its designer's copyright. Etsy asks for your own original design, so a licensed file may not qualify.

How to get a file you may sell

  1. Make your own. Tinkercad is free and enough for simple shapes.
  2. Buy a commercial licence. Many designers on Cults3D, MyMiniFactory and Etsy sell one. Read what it allows.
  3. Use open licences. CC0 and CC BY allow selling prints. NC does not. Filter by licence on Printables or MakerWorld and keep a screenshot.

Our take

Sharks sell at low to mid prices, and the $3 floor shows how fast a popular file gets undercut. Colour-change filament or larger sizes can lift the price, but a generic small shark will not stand out.
