Why it can work
- Limited positive evidence so far
Why it might fail
- Characters are protected by copyright and trademark, and the Pokémon owner has acted against a 3D printed design before
- No reliable public price found
Be aware before you sell
Only an official licence from the rights holder clears these, and a free fan file gives no right to sell. Characters are protected by copyright and trademark, and the Pokémon owner has acted against a 3D printed design before. Etsy asks for your own original design, so a licensed file may not qualify.
How to get a file you may sell
- Make your own. Tinkercad is free and enough for simple shapes.
- Buy a commercial licence. Many designers on Cults3D, MyMiniFactory and Etsy sell one. Read what it allows.
- Use open licences. CC0 and CC BY allow selling prints. NC does not. Filter by licence on Printables or MakerWorld and keep a screenshot.

Our take
Fan demand exists, but a strike or takedown can cost the whole shop, not only one listing. The only way it works is an official licence, which is out of reach for a small seller.
Competition
Public signals suggest medium competition.
We have not confirmed any yet.
Make it your own
- Give it your own character and name
- Bundle it as a party or mystery pack at a fair unit price
- Check toy safety rules before selling to children
Where to find 3D files
